An exciting book examining family therapy from a range of approaches. An essential text for family and couple therapists to expand their knowledge of althernative approaches to family work. It was a pleasure to see humanistic approaches alongside systemic and psychodynamic, to name a few. This text is an overall introduction to theory as well as a source of practical ideas for working with children, young people and familial relationships.
It includes concise diagrams and tables throughout. The ‘questions for group discussions or student assignments’ sections make it a good teaching aid and a useful additional text on Counselling Diploma level courses
Those familiar with the Geldards’ clear, accessible writing style will not be disappointed.

Very good text for graduate class. Comprehensive for those students who are looking to understand the vocabulary, models and the needs of families and children in particular. This is a good introductory course text. As an instructor, I enjoy having discussion questions in the book to refer to in class and to assign for extra credit assignment.
