Sensory Awareness and Social Work cover

Understanding sensory needs is fundamental for social work and care management practice. Social workers are trained to reflect on their own practice, make useful application of theory and promote anti-discriminatory practice at all times. This book will assist students in identifying people who have a sensory need and enable them to have the knowledge, skills and values to address this. Designed specifically to encourage students to build confidence and develop skills essential to best practice, this book is specifically structured to address all aspects of sensory need.

would see this currently as an additional recommended reading for the courses working with
would like to see more on causes of sensory impairment in children- important that practitioners are aware of these and the impact they have on child development
feel this is a good comprehensive text however to be able to be maximised within children′s services which I am reviewing this text for, it does need to have more of a focus across the age ranges with specific mention on the impact on all aspects of development in the children′s chapter, strategies that could be used to enhance development, the needs of children with dual sensory impairment and also those children who also have additional learning disabilities - the importance of augmentative and alternative communication strategies. good to see safeguarding children scenario included -- Eileen Wake * drupal *
Good use of case studies to illustrate communication needs of Social Work with sensory impairment. -- Miss Shallo Chand * drupal *
I especially liked the activities and will incorporate these into tutorials. -- Mr Robert Moroney * drupal *
a good book, specific and useful -- Mrs Fiona Wilkes * drupal *
