Laced with humorous incidents throughout, Kingdom of Wonder captures one man’s journey from divorce and a job in the IT industry in the UK, to working for a primary-education and child rights NGO in Cambodia. His path to Cambodia takes him via a silent meditation retreat near San Francisco in order to heal, couch-surfing with wisdom-filled pensioners, Tinder dates in Chicago, twerking in Hawaii, and a rare glimpse of North Korea. The story culminates in a love affair with Cambodia, a country that threw everything at him including two abductions, two murders, a heart-wrenching Khmer Rouge past, a beautiful woman, a wonderful NGO, and one extraordinary former Buddhist monk who leads the NGO. This is a book written by a man rediscovering his purpose and joy through his commitment to mindfulness and deep introspection to understand what it means to live this life.
